I've started trying out some new fonts for my promotional postcards. I've found that I'm satisfied with my own handwriting, but I could change the text slightly so that the letters sit together comfortably. I've also continued creating my trade magazine mailing list.

I'm still a bit stuck with Under Milk Wood, but am continuing to produce initial preliminary drawing. I've picked a conversation between Mr and Mrs Pugh as starting point no1. I've also been looking a illustrators that use the figure as a vehicle in which to develop my own style.

I make images. sometimes I'm not always sure if I'm trying to put across specific messages or hinting towards something, an idea or suggestion. It can be interesting looking back over 'old' work and seeing how it can translate to current projects.

so here i have about 4 different images collaged into one via photoshop. I'm experimenting...still. that could be a good thing? I've also pushed the so called boat out here and have tried using the landscape format.

Poppies, hearts, elephants and a love of Cy Twombly. (The magnetic lasso tool is proving to be something of a hit for me at the moment). I'm going to book a ticket to see his show at the Tate modern in September which I'm really looking forward to...all helps with my style development.

Perhaps I could do with a so called 'fine art style' like this image and one which has a more definite line...question, questions...

So I'm on strike! Here is an illustration that I made at the end of the day...set myself a purely intuitive response.

I've used ink, photoshop and a bit of collage from some photo's I took on a trip to the beautiful Hornsea.

I've spent a day in the studio and have continued to work on the dreams. This one is something like 'To dream of fish swimming in clear streams denotes favorable liasons with powerful people'...along those lines anyway...

I've been combining some close up photography I produced whilst in Malta with some of the images that I've produced for the dream book. Yep, the hands might need sorting here, but I feel that things are moving forward.

I got back from a trip to Malta the other day which has provided me with images to use for my portfolio. Boats, people, close ups of baked buildings etc. I always enjoy the process of using the journal whilst travelling from the airport to the final destination. Capturing elements of design in the terminal, machinery, people, snippets of conversation and all the other stuff that comes with drawing. I would say it must be a similar feeling to playing live on a stage but without the audience, knowing that it is a beginning of a process, sewing the seeds...

The last mail out was a postcard...I think I'll go for this again but will look at targeting trade magazines this time around. I recently got my copy of unison magazine...could send a personalised message with my query. I'll stick with a mail out of around the 150 mark and try to play the numbers game...perhaps upping it to 300.

I'm quite taken by these magnetic lasso and move tools on photoshop...the way forward perhaps???
