I came across this little character at an exhibition in Leeds a couple of years ago. I'm interested in those little snapshots of time and how an image can form as part of a fractured narrative.
The rusted wall in the background, for me evokes memories of fishing with my step dad in The Isle Of Man in the early 80's. I'm not too sure how 'good' this little guy really is? Is he winding us up?


'The passenger through non-places retrieves his identity only at customs, at the toll-booth, at the check out counter. Meanwhile, he obeys the same code as others, receives the same messages, responds to the same entreaties. The space of non-place creates neither singular identity nor relations; only solitude and similitude.

I made this drawing in the little chef car park and then worked further in photoshop- combining with a photograph taken on Cleethorpes seafront.
